Air strafing is a movement technique in the Quake franchise in which a player builds horizontal velocity while airborne by holding a strafe key (A or D) and continuously adjusting their facing direction. Unlike ground movement, where friction caps speed, the Quake engine applies no air resistance, so each small per-frame acceleration from strafing accumulates over time. The result is a sustained, controllable glide that can far exceed the player's running speed.
